WATCH: UP Pep Squad “Salamat” Routine; Ahead of UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2016 #UAAPCDC2016

Year after year, UP Pep Squad is expected to deliver the one of the best performances in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition. But this year, it would be different. The UP Pep Squad opted to skip this year’s competition to stand by their principles and fight for the betterment of cheerleading and cheerdancing in the Philippines. Despite that, they still did not forget to give back as they formulated a routine to thank their fans – the UP community. Watch UP Pep Squad “Salamat” routine video here:

The UP Pep Squad held a pep rally yesterday, November 16, 2016 at the UP CHK Gym, to thank all of their supporters. It was also held as a sendoff for the Philippine contingent to the Asian Cheerleading Competition to be held in Indonesia later this year.

Aside from the formulated mixed cheerdance routine, they also showed an all-girl cheerleading routine, all-girl stunt, a cheerdance routine and a pure dance cheerdance routine. If you haven’t watched their mixed cheerdance routine, watch it here:

“The routine is designed for our true supporters. ‘Yung mga sumusuporta, alam nila ‘yung pinaglalaban namin. So, nagfo-focus kami sa mga taong ‘yun. We treasure those people kasi we know na sila’yung kailangan namin,” UP Pep Squad assistant coach Pio Opinaldo said after the event.

It is still uncertain whether the UP Pep Squad will be joining the UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2017 (UAAP CDC 2017) but it’s sure that everyone’s waiting for their comeback.

The UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2016 will be held on Saturday and for once in twenty years – UP Pep Squad will not have a podium finish. Top performers NU Cheering Squad, UST Salinggawi Dance Scropu and FEU Cheer Squadron are the top bets to make it this year.
