Michelle Morente Leaves Ateneo Lady Eagles, Joins DLSU Lady Spikers!

In a surprising turn of events, Michelle Morente seems to have found a home as she is currently training with the De La Salle University Lady Spikers. This is after the 22-year-old opposite spiker from the Ateneo Lady Eagles left the Katipunan squad due to academic reasons.

Several sources have confirmed that Morente is with La Salle with one source adding that Morente has the possibility of becoming  a dual sport athlete with the other sport being basketball.

Aside from that, in an Instagram post from Lyceum of the Philippines University spiker Cherilyn Sindayen, Morente was seen playing for the Lady Spikers against the Lady Pirates.

Michelle Morente who bannered Ateneo Lady Eagles in Season 76, 77 and 79 is the second most efficient attacker after Jaja Santiago, totalling 172 points placing her sixth as Best Scorer, 41.53% attacking rate. She also had a 30.93% efficiency reception rating, placing her 8th at that department.

Morente’s transfer to La Salle was shocking as it is Ateneo’s fiercest rival in volleyball. She was expected to join the UP Lady Fighting Maroons but was not able to met the academic standards of the university. She will be sitting out #UAAPSeason80 should she officially transfer to La Salle. She will play her final year of eligibility in UAAP Season 81, playing opposite spiker as Kim Kianna Dy will be graduating this upcoming season.

If Morente were to transfer officially, she would have to sit out UAAP Season 80 and play out her final year of eligibility on Season 81. By then, she would be filling in the opposite spiker role of Kianna Dy who will have exhausted her playing eligibility.
