GOOD NEWS: Taxi Flag-down Rate, Cut by 10 pesos!

Good news for everyday commuters! Now that the efficiency of MRT and LRT lines are put into question – it may be best to rely on taxis from now on! Why? The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) had announced that starting on Monday, March 9, all taxis nationwide should abide by their rule to slash of Php 10 from your regular taxi fare. That means, the flag-down rate of Php 40 will now be down to Php 30.

Of course, the implementation of this rule won’t take effect outright with the calibrated taxi meters. That is why, it is important, than when you ride the taxi starting on Monday, you will pay for the entire taxi meter reading minus Php 10. This is also because this may be a temporary rule for all taxis nationwide.

Isn’t this something to look forward to this coming Monday? According to LTFRB director Ariel Inton, you can report anyone or any taxi driver who will insist you to pay with the old flag-down rate of Php40. All taxi drivers who violate this provisional rule, will be apprehended.
