Charo Santos Finally Speaks Up about MMK Pia Wurtzbach Episode

Pia Wurtzbach has become a staple topic of controversy for the past months. A lot of people thought that the controversies ended when she finished her reign as Miss Universe 2015. But, becoming a public figure, Pia will always be at the focus of the prying eyes of entertainment and showbiz land. Recently, her life story was featured in Maala-ala Mo Kaya, and it quickly became a controversial topic.


Alexander Wurtzbach, Pia’s half-brother, and Robie Asingua, his mother, aired their side on Facebook, accusing Pia of lying about her MMK story. According to the two, they never asked money from her and the beauty queen didn’t even give a single cent for her father. Now, MMK host Charo Santos-Concio, one of the top honchos in ABS-CBN finally speaks up about the issue.

Charo Santos, who is now ABS-CBN’s chief content officer addressed the issues about the MMK episode featuring Pia Wurtzbach’s life story. The said episode was aired June 3 and Liza Soberano starred to play the role of the beauty queen. On June 7, Charo Santos speaks up at the Sun Life media launch for a new collection of digital short films. In the event held at Makati Shangri-La’s Rizal ballroom, she said that the team in charge of the series made sure that the story is depicted from Pia’s eyes and no one else.She pointed out: “We talked to Pia. ‘MMK’ talked to Pia. That’s her story so we respect her story.”


In this post, Alex and Robie defended the portrayal of Pia’s father Uwe Wurtzbach, claiming that she was Uwe’s live-in partner until he passed last 2014. In the said episode, it was shown that Uwe had a number of mistresses that resulted to their broken family. After winning as a runner-up in Binibining Pilipinas 2013, the MMK story depicted that the family asked for money from her. This prompted Alex and Robie to air their side on Facebook over the episode.


After this happened, a lot of people supported Pia, including her sister Sarah, who replied to Robie and Alex’s accounts. recently claimed to have received a message from an insider that everything in the MMK episode truly happened. The source told Pep:“This was during the Binibini days. I’m sure not a lot of people know, but when you are 1st runner-up, wala ka ding pera from winnings ‘coz technically you don’t have a crown. So, Pia said she couldn’t help.”
